This project focused on the exchange and implementation of best practices in european ports. An additional new approach (one-to-one coaching of port professionals) and the development of new tools were developed.
Short-term objectives of ECONET were:
- to introduce a new work method of personal coaching to speed up and enhance implementation of best practices and
- to improve information exchange on ‘implementation of EU directives and other environmental laws’ to clarify conditions for the development of new best practices.
Long-term objectives of ECONET were:
- more and widespread implementation of European best practices
- more information and knowledge exchange between ports on environmental issues
- reduced cost and a improved environmental situation in ports and
- improved sustainable growth of ports and cities
