ESPO / Ecoports Port Environmental Review 2009

The Espo / Ecoports Port Environmental Review 2009 successfully concluded in November 2009. A wide range of ports from 20 European Maritime States have contributed to the Review. The initial analysis of the results is already under way and the outcomes of the review are to be officially presented during the next GreenPort conference to take place in Stockholm on 24-25 February 2010.
The outcomes will update the European benchmark of performance and will redefine the environmental priorities of the European port sector. The findings will form the basis for updating the ESPO Environmental Code of Practice and will provide the framework for adapting the Ecoports tools and for orientating new research, development and application initiatives. In addition to the overall outcomes, the current sample of port contributions allows the analysis at national level to take place in the cases of Denmark, Spain, Sweden and the UK. The sample of contributions from those countries can be considered as representative and enough populated for national benchmark analysis.
