The PERS document and certification scheme are ownership of the EcoPorts Foundation. Therefore, applications for a PERS Certificate are done through the EcoPorts Foundation Secretariat.
To apply officially for a PERS Certificate ports need to:
- become a Network Partner
- complete a simple application form
- submit the information specified by PERS
- pay a review fee
The time for a review depends on the size of the port:
- annual transhipment < 25 million ton: 1/2 day
- annual transhipment > 25 million ton: 1/2 - 1 day (related to port activities)
The review fee is based on the tariff of €800 for 1/2 day review. A 10% discount applies when a minimum of 5 ports that belong to the same organisation apply together. In certain circumstances the review may require up to an additional half day review (maximum €800). This might be caused due to:
- insufficient information provided with the initial submission, requiring significant additional review time
- annual transhipment greater than 25 million tonnes with extensive port activities
