Port of Castellon and Milford Haven Port Authority achieve PERS certification

13 Feb 2012

ESPO congratulates the Port of Castellon (Spain) and Milford Haven Port Authority (UK) on their recent Port Environmental Review System (PERS) certification. The certification verifies that the ports’ environmental management programmes are in line with the requirements set by the EcoPorts PERS, the only port sector specific environmental management standard. The ports achieved certification after the positive evaluation of their application by Lloyd’s Register. There are currently 14 ports from 8 countries holding a valid PERS certificate

The Port of Castellon has been a member of EcoPorts since 2006 and had already achieved a PERS certification 2 more times in the past, in 2006 and 2009. ESPO congratulates Castellon for its continuous and systematic way of addressing its environmental aspects.

Milford Haven Port Authority has also been a long supporter of the EcoPorts approach, using consistently the SDM checklist since 2004. Milford Haven achieves a PERS certification for the first time and ESPO is delighted to welcome MHPA to the network of PERS certificate holders.
