The Port of Vigo gets a Europe-wide recognition for its environmental management programme

On 12 July, during the closing session of the Green Energy Ports Conference in Vigo, the port authority of Vigo has been awareded PERS certification, receiving Europe-wide recognition for its environmental management programme.

The president of the Port Authority of Vigo, Ignacio López-Chaves, was delighted to receive the certificate from the hands of Antonis Michail, on behalf of the European Sea Ports Association (ESPO). ESPO congratulated the port authority for this significant achievement and for its overall commitment to environmental management.

The PERS certificate is the only port sector specific environmental management standard. PERS is the flagship product of the EcoPorts network and is offered as part of the ESPO services to its members. PERS is independently audited and certified by Lloyd’s Register. The port authority of Vigo has already been certified by EMAS and ISO 14001 demonstrating its clear commitment to environmnetal management.
